A Spot in Space

earth
a spot in space
in the depths of the whole universe
bursting
endless
powerful
yet at the same time
broken
how could it be possible
all of creation
scouring the emptiness of
existence
...WHAT IS THE MEANING BENEATH IT ALL?

The Boogey Man

He comes without warning
He comes in the night
Where will you be when the Boogey Man strikes?

He'll take your kids
And he'll take your wife
He'll make you watch before he takes your life.

Don't try to run
And don't try to hide
The Boogey Man will find you, wherever you lie

You might as well give up
There's no hope in sight
The Boogey Man has no morals, and he feeds off your fright

The only thing that you can do
Is pray that the Boogey Man doesn't find you.

'Cause if he does
He'll take your love
And he'll take your soul...
'Till there's nothing left.

Window Shopping

It started off as something so innocent... she said she just wanted to look in the designer store. "Sure," I said, why not? No harm ever came from feasting one's eyes on some apparel. Before I knew it, my credit card was maxed out and I had enough hand bags to provide for an entire homeless shelter.

"Thanks for taking me shopping sweetie. I love these hand bags. You are so nice to me."

"Oh, no problem. Anytime for you babe."- Jesus Christ! Did I just say that!? What the fuck was I thinking... I am going to have to work over-time for the next two weeks atleast if I am even going to attempt to pay for all this shit. Oh well, that's love for you- designer stores... hand bags made from the skin of a zebra's asshole... credit card bills that make your fucking eyes explode. All should be so fortunate...

Passion

It's midnight. Your in the kitchen. You tried to go to sleep but you've had one thing on your mind for the past two hours and sleep is just going to have to take a hike. You walk over to the cupboard with a delighted smile on your face. As you are about to open the cupboard door you hear your loved one call out, "Hun, come back to bed". You smoothly respond, "I'll be there in a few minutes dear". In the back of your mind your thinking, "Shut up, I'm on an epic fucking quest right now!". You stir those crazy thoughts aside and continue on to opening the cupboard door. As you open the door you visualize magnificent light slowly peering out. You open the door all the way and your treasure glooms at you. Sitting there silently and graciously is a tub of crunchy peanut butter. You slowly reach out towards your prize. As your hands grasp the tub of peanut butter time freezes around you. For a split second the universe around you stands still. You have grabbed one of the three items you will need to complete this quest. An exciting/overwhelming feeling has fallen upon you. You snap back to reality and continue to placing the tub of peanut butter on the counter and closing the cupboard door. The journey for the second item needed to complete this task is now under way. As you take a step back from the counter and make your way towards the fridge you hear your loved one call out, "Hun, come back to bed". You smoothly respond again, "Just a second dear". In the back of your mind your thinking, "Don't poke the bear lady, he's short of honey and eager for a fix!". All thoughts aside, you make your way towards the fridge. As you stand in front of the fridge the fridge beckons you, "Only the worthy may enter". You stand still for a second not sure what just happened. With a surpised look on your face your thinking, "Did my fridge just fucking talk to me?". You realize that it's late and that this journey is waring on you. You open the fridge and grab the strawberry jam. Time does not stand still this time through because your getting impatient and you've had enough of these shenanigans. As you close the door you give the fridge a kick and say, "Teach you to speak like that to me you cold hearted bitch!". You place the jam next to the peanut butter. Two of the three items needed to complete this task are now in your possession. The path to the next item will be a short one because it sits off to the corner on top of the counter next to the peanut butter and jam. This item is the bread. You look in awe as your treasure awaits your assemblement. You quickly throw a peanut butter and jam sandwich together which turns out to be picture perfect. This is the moment you have been waiting for. The path to completion of this beautiful piece of art is over. You hold the sandwich in both of your hands picturing a colosseum of people around you chanting your name. You raise the sandwich to your lips and just as your about to sink your pearly whites in to it your loved one calls out, "Hun, come back to bed." Your about to respond but in the back of your mind the only emotion you feel is, Passion.

Gravity Part 1

I opened the door to my apartment with a warm smile... I was finally home. Eight hard hours of work at the factory had beaten my spirit, but it was ok now because my wife would be here to greet me with love. Silence. "Odd," I thought to myself "where is my lovely wife? Hmm... maybe she's out getting groceries... or out with her girl friends. Ah yes, that's it. Shopping at the mall with the ladies. No biggy, hope she doesn't spend too much money...Oh well, she deserves it. She makes me so happy." I walked to the kitchen counter and put my empty travel mug in the sink after rinsing it. Next, I made my way to the bedroom to take off my clothes so I could have a refreshing shower. When I opened the door, my wife was lying on the bed with her back to me underneath the sheets. "Oh!" I thought "She is having an afternoon nap. She isn't out with her friends after all..." I quietly took my clothes off, trying not to wake her, and placed them in the hamper. I then made for the shower in the adjacent room. After a nice long shower, I dried myself off with a towel and put on some fresh clothes. I looked at my wife. "Still sleeping" I observed. I decided I would make dinner for us both and surprise her. I walked to the kitchen and put some spaghetti noodles on the stove in a pot of water. After about ten minutes of boling, I put the sauce on in a seperate pot and heated that up too. Once I had the table set and our meals in place I headed back to our bedroom. I walked around the bed to face her. That's when I noticed the empty bottle of sleeping pills next to a piece of paper on the nightstand. I looked at the pale complexion of my wife. Suddenly, the gravity of the situation had shifted. My limbs went numb and my mind disappeared. She was dead...

DUI Part 2

I dropped the bottle,
and I slammed the door.
Screams echoed,
as I laid the pedal to the floor.
Smoke gathered in my rear view mirror.
No fear as I shifted gears,
and I sped, and I sped, and I sped, and I sped,
and I sped, and I sped, and I sped, and I sped through the night
Devil said,
Your coming with me tonight

The Racer

The racer only feels at home when he's behind a wheel. He grabs hold of the wheel firmly with his left hand, while engaging the ignition with his right. The Racer caresses the wheel and looks over his guages and instruments, making sure everythings in in check, while his home warms up. Once ready, the Racer grabs hold of the clutch and throws it into...

First Gear: The racer wastes no time here. He enjoys the swift acceleration of his home, but it is not enough... so he pops the clutch into...

Second Gear: A flawless transition. Now that he's had a little taste of freedom, the Racer is hungry for more gears. Without hesitation or fault, the Racer throws the clutch into...

Third Gear: The Racer takes a quick look over his guages fe the last time. Everything is where it should be, as it always his. He maintains his home well, and it pays him back with maximum efficiency. The Racer is halfway to where he wants to be. Unsatisfied, he pulls the clutch into...

Fourth Gear: The Racer is commited at this point... there is no going back now. The Racer feels more at ease now, but his thirst for more gears has not been qunched... so he flicks the clucth into...

Fifth Gear: The lines of the road are starting to merge together. Even though space is moving by him very quickly, time seems to be slowing down for the Racer- his adrenaline is starting to kick in. Still, the racers hunger is not satisfied... so he pops the clutch for the final time into...

Sixth Gear: Ecstacy... the lines of the road are now a vast blur. This is the moment the Racer lives for. Life is flying by the racer at speeds in excess of two hundred kilometers an hour. Yet, to the racer time is almost still- slow motion. His home is pumping out energy at an alarming rate and is filled with noise, but the Racer hears only his own heart beat. In this moment, the Racer and his home are both working at maximum capacity. As the pistons of his home draw air into the cylinders, the Racer breaths. As the pistons compress and create power, the Racers heart pumps blood through his vains. In sixth gear; the racers mind, body and home are one.

DUI Part 1

I lost my body and my soul on the road,
It was anything but bright.
I wait for my heart to explode,
It won't take long to ignite.
As I lay upon this road,
I pray that I will see some light
My body struggles to survive,
My mind urges me to fight!
To fight all night until I'm free, until I see the light.

...To be continued.

Aftermath

Shouting.  Screaming.  Chaos.  How did we get here?

Voices and words ring out without coherency.  On the ground and staring at feet.  Still breathing.  Still here.

Thinking about my wife and how strong she is.  Ringing and shouting still.  Trying to shake out the cobwebs.  Trying to be strong for her.  Up to my knees, but that brings more chaos.  Mores screams.  More blood.

I'm back down.  Medics are screaming.

Jesus Christ.

How did we get here?

Down but not out.  Pulling myself up.

The aftermath of what seemed so innocent.

An unconscious start to father-hood.

Damp

It's pouring outside and your on a journey. You didn't want to get caught in the rain, but it's too late now and it is imperative that you press on. You curse the world because it has betrayed you, but no one responds and the world just keeps on turning. So you follow the path that has betrayed you, in agony, because you are damp.

Ninja Short Story

Long ago, in the ancient lands of China, before construction of the Great Wall
had even began, there was a powerful clan of Ninja warriors known as “The Brothers
Lee”. Members of The Brothers Lee were masters of various martial arts including but
not limited to Kung Fu, Karate and Ninjitsu. The Master of the clan had three sons. Their
names were Atum Lee (oldest), Nikyus Lee (middle) and Yoshua Lee (youngest). It was
well known that Atum and Nikyus were the most talented ninjas the clan had to offer.
They were both always constantly trying to outdo each other to gain the respect of their
father “Master Lee” in order to hopefully one day be rewarded with the “Master Scroll of
Ninja Mastery”.

One historic day, Master Lee walked out of his Master hut wearing his Master
robes which he never ever wore except on legendary occasions. Atum and Nikyus were
certain that this was going to be the day that their father handed down the Master Scroll
to one of his followers (Master Lee had been sick for many days and moons now and it
was only a matter of time before he had to make a decision). Atum approached his father
while he was having his afternoon tea in front of an apple tree. “Father, behold my skill!”
Atum declared. He then spelt his name into the tree with ninja throwing stars, “A-T-U-
M” he announced. Master Lee approached his oldest son with a smile and patted him on
the head in approval. The Master then continued on his walk after having finished his tea.
Nikyus saw his opportunity at this point to show off and performed a double ninja spiral
back flip and landed on the point of his staff, balancing perfectly. Master Lee was much
impressed by this also, and patted his second son on the head in approval. Once again,
Master Lee continued on his afternoon journey until he came upon his youngest son who
was training very hard by himself doing ninja sit ups and ninja push ups in the middle of
a field. Atum and Nikyus watched from afar as their father handed the Master scroll of
Ninja Mastery to the youngest son of all, Yoshua. Atum and Nikyus were outraged by
this and demanded answers from their father after he had returned to his master
hut. “How could you do this?” Atum cried. “He’s not even a good Ninja!” Nikyus
exclaimed. Master Lee was sitting on his chair, stroking his beard and had this to say for
all “He who acts only to impress others, has no honor. He who’s cause is just and he
who’s path is his own, shall be rewarded honorably.” Master Lee then had a heart attack,
those were his final words of wisdom…

Singletrack

It's a simple word. Singletrack.  Three Syllables.  Wheel of Fortune would love it. R, S, T, L, N, & even an E.  There is nothing unique or exciting about the word itself.  But the emotions it can stir, and the endorphins it can bring, this is where the word "Singletrack" gets its excitement.  To the right ears the word will increase heart rate.  The thrill of the now combined with the anticipation of what's next.

Roots, rocks, stumps and drops sprinkle themselves along these long lines through the forest.  The trees, ferns, bushes, and flowers all part of a living playground.  With such great opportunity comes great risk.  Give and take, Ying and Yang.  Rushing endorphins can give way to painful breaks and bruises in a heartbeat.  Taco'd wheels, mashed forks, finger splints and fitted casts.  All for Singletrack.
